Updates and Progress

Construction

The end of May was a very busy times at FEJ, many local and international visitors. All the construction projects are moving slowly. We are all very impatient to complete all the construction projects.

The disabled women’s camp is still not up and running, the showers and toilets are both not yet completed and we still have not found the personnel needed to get the huge tents up. If anyone has suggestion we would be very grateful.

Community Clinic construction is scheduled to start June 22, 2010.

School Enfant Jesus

The school director has decided to finish the school year on June 30 2010. And not prolong the school year until mid August. Instead the children will have ample time for the their summer break. We will be re-opening the school year in September. The post-earthquake focus is on helping the teachers, parents and children heal from their loss, and fears concerning the aftermath. It has been a long third and fourth trimester for the teachers, parents and mostly the children. The healing process has been beneficial for all and we are starting to see that everyone is moving towards focusing on their occupation or a somewhat normal life.

However having practically lost half of the school year, the director has decided to take the month of July to do further training with the teachers and plan the 2010–2011 school year. Therefore, in the fall the school year will start with catching up and review of what was not covered in the end of the previous school year.
