Community Health Clinic

Over the years, Foundation Enfant Jesus has operated mobile clinics in the region of Lamardelle. This fall, FEJ aims to complete the construction of a fully equipped, two-story health clinic that will address the continuing health issues of the growing population of Lamardelle. Furthermore, FEJ seeks to establish a preventive health program that will reduce the communicable health challenges that put many lives of the children and adults at risk.

The purpose of the health clinic is to establish the first international health care facility in the community. Currently, Lamardelle lacks the medical care and health education services, thus placing its 20,000 residents at grave risk for HIV, TB, malaria and other diseases. Establishing a health clinic will provide basic medical care as well as community health services to the residents, which will be the first step in reducing the aforementioned risks.

The long-range vision of the FEJ health clinic is to provide comprehensive community-based health services to Lamardelle. Among which will include specialty medical and dental care services such as minor surgeries, ophthalmology, gynecological care – which will include natural child birth instruction as well as cervical cancer screenings. In addition to having a stable base of primary health care operations, incorporating a nutritional medicine program will also help reduce the abundant number of children who are currently at risk due to malnutrition.

FEJ, along with its partnerships with universities and nongovernmental organizations in Europe, the United States, Canada, Spain and other nations, will help to offer these services and the mentorship of local health professionals, who will be operating the clinic daily to achieve an international standard of health care for this rural area.
